Some friends of my girlfriend started this foundation in Duluth, Georgia, where I went to High School. Their son, Wes, had died from leukemia and wasn’t much older than me. More directly, the disease touched me as I watched one of my high school coaches suffer with leukemia and go through a series of treatments. I was very concerned for him as he had been a great friend and mentor to me. He ultimately went through the stem cell transplant procedure and has recovered to the point where he is, once again, coaching. I am thankful for his recovery and just think that everyone should have the opportunity of recovery from this terrible disease. When Everyone Survives is focused on funding the research necessary to find the cure that others need. I want to be part of that effort.
